"Wake up! We're going out to breakfast!" my husband, Warren, announces to our still sleeping 4- and 6-year-old sons.
"Really? On a school day?" Satchel, our oldest, asks excitedly. (Our kids go to school year round.)
"Yay!" Jiro says as he springs out of bed.
He and Satchel race to get dressed, and we're out the door in record time. We head to Café Eclectic, a new neighborhood hot spot.
Before we can sit down at a booth by the door, the boys make a beeline for the display case by the register.
"I want chocolate!" Satchel says, pointing to the array of homemade doughnuts.
