If a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step and ends with only one trip to the emergency room, I consider it lucky.
My husband, Warren, and our two boys, Satchel, 6, and Jiro, 4, spent a week on the road with my in-laws traveling to a wedding in North Dakota. I met up with them in New Mexico for another week on the road and another wedding in Colorado.
Admittedly, it was a rather ambitious plan, but the boys adjusted to life on the road amazingly well. (Some of their favorite activities, like picking out candy at the gas station, playing Nintendo DS, skipping baths, staying up late and eating out, go hand-in-hand with road trips.)...(Read more)
