Grilled Shrimp Ka-bob at Flying Fish

My name is Stacey Greenberg, and I am a Flying Fishaholic. It’s been three days since my last order of grilled shrimp ka-bobs. Seriously, if I don’t get my Flying Fish fix, I get the shakes. (Shimmies?)

The Flying Fish is primarily known for its fried food, boiled mudbugs (aka crawfish), and raw oysters. (Not to mention its kitschy interior replete with a “Liars’ Wall” for customers’ fishing photos and a Billy Bass Adoption Wall.) However, on days when I feel like treating myself to a “healthy” lunch, I opt for the shrimp ka-bobs — snappy! (You have to say, “Make it snappy!” if you want your food spiced up a bit with the signature seasonings.) The ka-bobs, which consist of two giant skewers, are jam-packed with jumbo shrimp, green pepper, onion, and tomato. Then they’re grilled to perfection and served with a hearty side of beans and rice. Other sides, such as grilled squash and zucchini and corn on the cob, are also available.
